Title:
Hardware Rollout Update
Body:
The Technical Services Group has heard some concerns regarding the amount of down time the county will experience as part of the hardware rollout.  This down time is the period where each county would have to stop editing or adding records while the servers were being built.  Based on some new installation procedures, the county will no longer have to 'lock down' a week before the DOR staff arrives on site to install the equipment.

Previously, we were building the new servers with the dump file pulled from the date your county lock down began. This was done on Friday and the following week we would build the servers. The week after that we were scheduled to install the servers in the county. This potenitally caused the county to be down for up to two weeks before the new equipment was installed. With the new procedure, the Department will build and test all of the equipment prior to arriving in the county.  Once there we will update the database with the most current information from the previous nights backup.

The county will need to stop adding or modifying any CAMA records the day prior to our arrival.  That evening the county should ensure that a good backup of the Oracle database is completed.  Note, you will need to go in and verify that the backup log reads "Terminated Successfully without Warnings" at the end of the file. This log file can be found on D:\OracleBackup\EXP_WY##.LOG.  Remember, this will be the backup file we will use to reconstitute your data.

As mentioned in the previous postings, you will need to make sure the Oracle 11g client software is installed on the new workstations along with Realware 4.17.02.  Note, if you had installed the 10g client software previously on the new workstations, it will be necessary to remove it completely before the 11g product will work correctly. Also please make sure your IT personnel are available while the installation team is in your county.

If you have questions or concerns regarding the hardware rollout, please feel free to contact David Chapman at dchapm1@state.wy.us.

Thank you.
